The third straight Top 5 record out of the chute for Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Like their previous hit “Young Girl” this was written by the group’s producer, Jerry Fuller. Jerry also wrote “Travelin’ Man” for Ricky Nelson (originally meant for Sam Cooke - long story) and discovered the Knickerbockers, producing their hit “Lies.” Fuller was a member of the post-“Tequila” Champs that also included Glen Campbell and Seals and Crofts.
