Inspiration for a song can come from some odd places. Paul said he was walking his dog Martha one morning when she ran off. He looked for her and claimed to have seen a stranger on a hill. Paul said later he may have imagined the whole thing, but he got an excellent song out of it. Sérgio Mendes would score a hit with a bossa-nova remake in a few months.
