"Who'll Be The Next In Line" #34 9/18/1965

A forgotten oldie from the Kinks, and one you really don't hear much on the radio any more. But then, radio plays the same 200 or so oldies over and over. Playing it safe, they say. Can't take risks to alleviate the boring format. Maybe that's why I don't program a station.

If I programmed an "oldies" radio station it would have to have at least a 15,000+ song list (from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s ONLY), or else I'd abandon the project.

Oh, and I'd refer to my station as being an "ultimate solid gold" format.

No wonder people are fleeing to their own digital music sources. I was one of the first 600,000 subscribers to XM starting in 2006. It was great...until they merged with Sirius and the crushing debt forced layoffs and a lack of attention to their formats. Their 50's channel does play some decent music, for instance, but it's jockless. Sometimes you want to hear a story behind a forgotten record. Rant over.
