This was the final Top 40 hit for Major Lance. He had a couple more R&B hits, but wound up spending four years in jail for cocaine possession and died in 1994 from heart disease. Today's selection was written and co-produced by Curtis Mayfield.

Hi Larry,
I love the concept of your blog and the era to which it's devoted. The only thing that won't keep me coming back every day is having to leave the site to go to a youtube video. For one thing, I don't have the patience for the ads; for another, the sound quality of most is below par. Perhaps you might consider uploading a song to box.com, as many music bloggers are doing now. It's possible to configure your files for preview only (no downloading), if that's what you're concerned about.
I really hope you'll consider my suggestion, because this could really be a very popular blog!
